Highlighting Marijuana Vape Devices: G Pen and Jupiter Vaporizers

By Danyal Swan September 25, 2021

Just as technology impacts nearly every aspect of our lives, it has significantly affected the marijuana industry. With the development of state-of-the-art devices like vaporizer pens, medical marijuana patients enjoy a wide range of benefits previously unavailable with traditional smoking methods. For users just beginning their cannabis journey, vape pens provide all of the valuable medical effects of flower while also offering a convenient, clean, portable, and discrete method of consumption. Learn more about vape pens, including the best cannabis vaporizers, by considering the information below.

The Development of Cannabis Vaporizers

While vaping cannabis has exploded in popularity over the past decade, this seemingly new method of consuming marijuana that are evolved from ancient practices thousands of years old. Ancient Egyptians during the 5th century BCE placed hemp seeds on red hot stones to inhale the vapor for medical purposes, and this technique spread across the world. In 15th century India, heated coals were utilized to vaporize a flavored tobacco referred to as shisha, and this practice rapidly became a status symbol that members of the elite would share with visiting guests following formal dinner service.

Current cannabis vape devices combine this ancient practice with innovative technology to give users the most enjoyable experience. In 2003, Chinese pharmacist Hon Lik created the first e-cigarette vaporizer in an attempt to cease his heavy tobacco smoking. He discovered that nicotine liquid could be vaporized with high-frequency ultrasonic vibrations and packaged it into a device that looks and acts like a cigarette, making it extremely simple and user-friendly. This technology was readapted for more viscous marijuana oil, allowing medical marijuana patients to take advantage of the health benefits cannabis offers while avoiding the harmful toxins that are produced and inhaled during combustion.

How Cannabis Vaporizers Work

Vaporizer batteries are designed to provide discretionary medicating.

The cannabis industry quickly adapted the e-cigarette design to create weed vape pens and vaporizers that use cannabis flower, oil, or concentrate instead of liquid nicotine and employ a built-in heating element to vaporize the product. Several vaping devices exist for THC oil, concentrates and even dry marijuana flower, but vape pens currently have the highest demand for any cannabis accessory. Cannabis vape devices generally include four main parts: a tank or cartridge that holds the concentrate with attached mouthpiece, an atomizer that vaporizes the concentrate, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that powers the atomizer.

Vape cartridges may be filled with a number of different cannabis extractions, primarily distillate and specialty concentrates. Distillate is a highly refined oil that contains a limited number of cannabinoids, usually THC, CBD, or a mixture of the two, with terpenes reintroduced to provide strain-specific benefits. Specialty concentrates, such as shatter, crumble, and live rosin, also include other cannabinoids and terpenes found in the marijuana strain to create a more robust experience for the user that most closely mimics the effects of traditional cannabis smoking; the devices used to vaporize these concentrates are known as dab pens or concentrate pens.

Why Is Vaping Cannabis So Appealing?

There are many reasons why vaping cannabis has become such an appealing option for medical marijuana users, including:

It's Clean

Smoking involves pungent odors, multiple accessories like grinders and pipes, and wasted product due to inevitable spillage. In contrast, vape pens are a clean, simple, no-fuss method of cannabis consumption that requires only the vape battery itself and the pre-filled cartridge of choice. Because their only output is the vapor, these devices produce no ash, no smoke, and no mess. When a cartridge is empty, you simply dispose of it without having to deal with sticky resin-covered instruments that need regular cleaning for optimal performance.

It’s Convenient

The minimal, cylindrical shape and small size make vape pens incredibly portable, providing convenient medicating on the go. Pre-filled cartridges are small, easy to transport, and simple to replace when you want to try a new strain. When you use a vape pen, you don’t have to choose between multiple strains – you can carry them all at once to switch up your experience any time you want.

It’s Discreet

The cleanliness and convenience of vape pens allows them to be a particularly discreet method of consumption. Hiding a water pipe or a dab rig can be difficult, especially when you live with other people but would prefer to keep your vaping private. Unlike the pungent and very recognizable scent of burning flower, vapor from cannabis vape pens is far more subtle, allowing you to enjoy your medication without disturbing other people nearby.

It’s (Potentially) Less Harmful

Vaping may be a healthier, less harmful alternative to traditional smoking of flower. Studies show that vaporizing cannabis significantly reduces the respiratory issues that can arise from smoking, which contains several of the same carcinogens, irritants, and toxins as tobacco smoke. However, the quality of the product you receive greatly depends on the brand you choose and how rigorously they adhere to safety standards during the manufacturing process. Products from less reputable brands may come into contact with pesticides, heavy metals, and other dangerous substances, so it is absolutely crucial to do your research before purchasing and consuming any concentrate.

Vaping Produces Stronger Effects

A study conducted by the Journal of the American Medical Association found that vaping cannabis concentrate results in a higher level of THC in the bloodstream than consuming flower, resulting in a more potent and long-lasting high. The effects manifest more quickly, allowing users to reach their desired dose with relatively small amounts of product (typically a fraction of a gram per dosage). This makes concentrates an efficient choice and offsets their more expensive price in comparison with flower.

With the numerous advantages they offer over traditional smoking, these devices have rapidly become one of the most popular methods for cannabis consumption for users throughout the country. According to data collected by BDS Analytics, vape sales grew by 69% in 2018, and cannabis concentrates surpassed flower in California, accounting for 37% of the nation’s largest recreational marijuana market. With current trends continuing, vapes are poised to take over the cannabis industry, surpassing flower, edibles, and other forms of consumption.

How to Use an Oil Cartridge Vape Pen

Vape pens are available in three primary forms: rechargeable 510-thread, rechargeable pod systems, and disposable. A rechargeable vape pen includes a battery that can be repeatedly recharged and allows users to easily swap different cartridges. 510-threads screw onto the battery like a bolt into a pre-drilled hole, whereas a pod system cartridge slides easily in and out of the device. A disposable vape pen features an internal battery and a tank pre-filled with concentrate, meaning it is not rechargeable or refillable but is disposed of after it is emptied. All of these forms of vape pens are offered with draw-activated or push-button technology.

A draw-activated vape pen has no buttons and does not require you to power it on or off, making it easy to use but offering only limited options for functionality. A push-button vape pen must be turned on with the press of a button before use, typically five times in a row. Some models allow you to change the voltage output by pushing the button three times in a row, giving you control over temperature, taste, and vapor production. Patients should note that with lower temperatures tend to provide more flavorful draws, while higher temperatures produce a larger vapor cloud. Other vape pens include a preheat feature that heats up the coil immediately, allowing you to use less product and conserve the battery life of your pen. The pre-heat mode may be initiated by pushing the button two times in a row.

Steps for Using a Cannabis Vape Pen:

  1. If you are using a rechargeable 510-thread vape pen, begin by removing the rubber seal from your oil cartridge and connect it to the battery by screwing it into the thread. If you are using a pod system, fully charge the battery and slip the cartridge in. If you are using a disposable vape pen, you do not need to do anything with a cartridge as it includes the concentrate in the pen itself.
  2. If you are using a push-button vape pen, turn your device on and make sure it is fully charged. If your pen offers voltage output settings, start with the lowest setting. If you are using a draw-activated pen, skip this step and move on to the next one.
  3. When you are ready to inhale, press the button and take a small puff, approximately 3-5 seconds. Do not press the button until you are inhaling to ensure no medication is wasted. If you are using a draw-activated pen, simply inhale, and the pen will produce vapor.
  4. Wait several minutes to gauge the effects of the concentrate, especially if you are unfamiliar with this type of product or are trying a new strain. Vaping can initially produce subtle effects that “creep up” on you, so it is always better to consume the smallest dose possible and increase the amount over time rather than over-consuming.

What Is a CCELL® Pen?

The Palm, powered by CCELL, offers consistent, discreet dosing.

Jupiter Research is a revolutionary vaporizer company that developed CCELL® heating technology, which quickly propelled them to the forefront of the global vape industry. Many inferior cartridges feature a wick that dries out during prolonged use, hindering fluid delivery and causing burnt-tasting hits. In contrast, CCELL cartridges feature a ceramic wick with small pores that allow the concentrate to evenly coat and be thoroughly absorbed by the ceramic wick, maintaining continuous flow smooth hits, and more vapor. This porous substance can reach higher temperatures without burning and helps the cartridges maintain optimal airflow, ensuring that fresh air enters the pen as the concentrate is vaporized to provide a consistent draw. CCELL has truly perfected the art of the vape device, showcased in 510-thread cartridges and compatible pen and Palm batteries, the Dart pod system, and the disposable.

  • 510-thread cartridges and batteries are referred to as “universal” items in the vape world. The majority of cartridges and batteries in the cannabis market fall within this category. As the name indicates, the connector piece of the cartridge is threaded and screws into a compatible battery. The cartridges are cylindrical in shape and feature either a round or tapered mouthpiece.
  • The Palm is a 510-thread battery that makes discretionary vaping more feasible than ever. The battery quite literally is palm-sized, with the cartridge covered ¾ of the way by the device leaving just enough room to check the status of your THC oil.
  • The Dart is the first pod system introduced by Jupiter. It features a leak-proof, draw-activated, magnetic snap-in-place pod, compatible only with the Dart battery. Both pieces of the system are flat in shape and designed to fit in your pocket without notice.
  • The disposable is an all-in-one device with THC oil housed inside, no charging or cartridge connecting required. The draw-activated device is the ultimate grab-and-go product.

Because counterfeit products are so prevalent within the cannabis space, CCELL cartridges are always laser-engraved on the bottom of the cartridge with the CCELL logo, the authorized distributor’s name, and the serial number; a significant gesture after the vape crisis brought about by black market cartridges.

  • The G Pen Elite is a dry marijuana flower vaporizer. The fully ceramic tank in which the flower is loaded is the largest on the market and provides even heating from all sides. Temperatures range from 200°-428°F, allowing patients to customize their dry vaping medicating experience.
